Marietta GA Chiropractor Discusses Sports Programs for Kids.
WHAT TO DO, WHAT TO DO: 1 OR 2+
SINGLE OR MULTIPLE SPORTS PROGRAM FOR KIDS
Martin Wilson D.C. Intern
As summer gets ready to wrap up, sports programs begin to shift from traveling baseball and summer basketball leagues to the fall sports of football and cheerleading. The big question that has been overflowing the media is whether children should specialize in one specific sport or if they should be exposed to multiple sports programs in Marietta GA.
Recent publications state that kids who participate in multiple sports program tend to perform better later on in life. Playing multiple sports allows the child to figure out which sport they truly enjoy playing and to develop a better appreciation for that sport. Playing multiple sports also helps to prevent overuse injuries that can occur when only playing one sport. The dynamics of each sport are different and require the kids to use different muscle groups and body functions. This also gives the child an opportunity to interact with different coaches and players and will help to develop interpersonal skills that will be useful later on in their lives.
Finding the Right Game in Marietta GA
Specializing in a single sport may sound like the right decision to ensure the child only gets better and more proficient at that one sport, but what if their true talent lies within a different sport that they were never exposed to? As mentioned earlier this also increases the chances of the child having an overuse injury associated with that sports biomechanics. We all want the best for our children and for them to succeed in what is there passion.
So in conclusion it’s determined that allowing the child to have multiple avenues when it comes to sports is better for them the long run. So let’s talk to them and hear their opinions, expose them to multiple options, and ensure that they are not swamped with excessive amounts of activities. Remember rest is apart of training.
